“Nutrition Support Program” for Families Living in Sub-divided Units

Introduction

The project is jointly organized by the People Service Centre and the Hong Kong Community Dietitians Association in Kowloon City District focus on the welfare needs of the households living in subdivided units in the district.  The cross-sectors collaborating model  of connecting “social, welfare, and medical” sectors is adopted to address the nutritional needs and food expense issue of families.  The project increases the coverage of service targets facing adversity and easing their emotional stresses.   It targets to train theservice users to become nutrition ambassadors and promote the spirit of mutual help.

 

The operating expenses of the project is funded by the HSBC Hong Kong Community Partnership Program

Goal

  1. Improve nutrition and health of children in subdivided units
  2. Improve the resilience of families and children in the face of difficulties who are living in subdivided units
  3. Foster a spirit of mutual help in the community

Service content

  1. Carry out health and nutrition assessment and group activities for children living in subdivided units
  2. Train nutrition ambassadors and allow them to assist in organizing nutrition and health activities
  3. Train volunteers and community care ambassadors
  4. Carry out public education to advocate the public awareness of poverty issues
