Introduction
“Food Friends Action” has organized a food collection activity called “Fest-FOOD SHARE” since 2015, inviting all major housing estates, institutions, companies, and schools in Hong Kong to participate, so that the excessive festival foods can be properly distributed for those in need.
In 2019, this program was renamed “All for Food”, expanding the food recycling activities during festivals to a regular based one, It provides more localized and unlimited time food recycling activities to the public by inviting the participation in housing estates, organizations, companies or schools to set up food recycling bins provided by this project to collect donated food from all walks of life in the community regularly. It mobilizes everyone around us to participate in food recycling in this “All for food” program. In addition, the Centre also welcomes collaborations with different organizations to set up booths, organize lectures and workshops, and other educational activities to promote the concept of cherishing food and caring about poverty issue among Hong Kong citizens.
Content
This project provides food donation boxes for participating housing estates, organizations, companies and schools, and place them at the designated locations in the public areas. The food collected includes dry food, cooking oil, canned food, noodles, biscuits, snacks, rice, cereal, or room temperature milk and etc. The volunteers and staff distribute the collected food (it) to the needy older persons and low-income families in the district with designated schedule and points of collection.
