“Green Cherisher” Environmental Community Participation Program

Program Overview

The “Green Cherisher” Environmental Community Participation Program aims to raise environmental awareness among residents in the Kowloon City District, particularly focusing on families and youth living in “three-nil” buildings and subdivided units. The program brings together the community, business, and academic sectors to educate and engage community members in environmental practices, establishing a resident-led model of sustainable environmental participation.

The program is funded by the HSBC Hong Kong Community Partnership Program.

Program Objectives

  • Enhance residents’ environmental awareness and promote sustainable waste reduction practices
  • Strengthen mutual support and integration among grassroots families and across generations
  • Establish a sustainable, resident-led environmental platform with cross-sector collaboration

Services

  • Set up community education stations, waste sorting workshops, and resident sharing activities to promote environmental knowledge
  • Organize volunteer teams, hold eco-skill workshops and upcycling groups, and encourage participants to become community volunteers
  • Foster green and sustainable community development through mutual assistance among residents and volunteer collaboration
